so, this is something i always wanted to try out – making pralines. and lately i’ve been craving poppy seed, so i’ve decided to combine both! plus, all the healthy stuff that comes with poppy seeds, it’s just a win-win situation. they contain a proper amount of minerals like iron, copper, calcium, potassium, manganese, zinc and magnesium, as well as oleic and linoleic acid.
and another plus, you’ll have tons of fun making these! :)
what you’ll need:
– 150g poppy seeds
– 80g ground hazelnut
– 6 (middle sized) dates
– juice of a half of a lemon
– 200g chocolate (i used the lindt excellence 70%)
– coconut oil
blend the dates with a bit of water in a food processor or with a hand held mixer until it becomes an even paste. mix the poppy seeds and the ground hazelnut with the date-paste, add the lemon juice and 2 tsp of coconut oil. then form the mix with your hands into little poppy seed balls :)
melt the chocolate over a steam bath with 5 tbsp of coconut oil. (or use your favourite recipe for the melted chocolate, since i know some have that one recipe that works for them ;) )
when you reach the desired consistency, dip the poppy seed balls in the melted chocolate, set on a baking paper and let the chocolate harden.
