while on the australia’s east coast, a trip to magnetic island is an absolute must! because among the beautiful scenery and great beaches there are also lots of koalas to spot! :)
to reach the magnetic island you have to take the 20minutes ferry from townsville, they are pretty much frequent and go in 1 hour intervals. the ferry will take you to nelly bay harbour from where you can take a bus straight to the famous horseshoe bay. from the horseshoe bay there are numerous walks that you can do. if you don’t want to walk, there are these mini “topless” cars to rent, but be aware – the roads are not optimal ;)
yes, the holes are really huge – but people seemed to have fun bobbing around in their little topless cars, screaming as if they were on a rollercoaster ^^
but away from the rollercoaster roads, there are beautiful beaches – we went to the radical and florence bay. they are really perfect for reading a book while lying in the shadow of a tree.
afterwards, we went to the absolute highlight of the day – the forts walk! the walk really isn’t hard and you just have to search for the little grey balls of fluff that are sitting towards the tops of trees – koalas! and there are many :)
have you ever heard how koala’s mating call sounds? i haven’t and i was very amused ^^
(my apologies for the shaky video, the excitement was just too much ^^)
after you get the cuteness overload, there are also the forts on the end of the walk, where you can have a great view of the island and maybe even enjoy a great sunset?
hope you enjoyed this post and the cute koalas :)
